Lamar Odom Reportedly Set To Sign With The NY Knicks This Week....

Lamar Odom is finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.....we hope!

Despite being in the middle of a divorce with wife Khloe Kardashian and spending much of the last year battling addiction, 

Lamar is reportedly back healthy and on track to sign with the New York Knicks.

Phil Jackson and the New York Knicks are progressing toward a deal to sign veteran free agent Lamar Odom before the NBA regular season ends Wednesday, according to sources briefed on the situation.
Sources told ESPN.com that the Knicks are on course, barring an unforeseen snag, to formally sign Odom this week in a move that would put him on their roster immediately and, more importantly, include an unguaranteed second year for next season.
Structuring the deal this way, after a tumultuous 12 months for one of Jackson’s favorite players when they worked together with the Los Angeles Lakers, would give the Knicks two months before free agency begins July 1 to get the 34-year-old into their program and start working with him.
The Knicks, sources say, would want to use the extra time to see if they can get Odom to the point, physically and mentally, where the talented but enigmatic lefty is worthy of a roster spot next season.
Still recovering from a back injury that curtailed his recent stint in the Spanish League after just two games, Odom is not believed to be healthy enough to play in the Knicks’ season finale Wednesday night in Toronto even if he signs Wednesday.

Kardashian Curse? Lamar Odom Quits Spanish Basketball Team

Lamar Odom’s series of unfortunate events continues…

Lamar has officially quit the “Laboral Kutxa,” which is the Spanish basketball team he has been playing on for the past few months.  His latest obstacle is Lumbar Radicultis, a painful spinal injury that causes lower back pain. According to a spokesman for Laboral Kutxa, Odom quit after suffering from an injury.

“The tests carried out in New York by Lamar Odom’s trusted medical team, with the knowledge of the club, have shown that the player is suffering from lumbar radiculitis, which could keep him out of action for up to two months.The player therefore terminates his current contractual relationship with the club. The north American pivot will complete his recovery in the United States.”

Odom has returned back to the states after suffering this injury.  I wonder what he'll do next?? 

Magic Johnson to Own Part of WNBA Franchise The LA Sparks

Magic Johnson and Los Angeles Dodgers chairman Mark Walter have partnered to buy the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA, saving the struggling franchise from relocation or contraction, WNBA president Laurel Richie has confirmed.


The new Sparks ownership group also includes Dodgers president Stan Kasten and part owners Todd Boehly and Bobby Patton, according to sources.



"Their knowledge of L.A., their passion for sports in L.A., it's just a great thing," WNBA president Laurel Richie told ESPN.com's Mechelle Voepel. "I could say it a million times: We are truly, truly excited."



A news conference is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday.



The Sparks, one of the original eight WNBA franchises, have been in limbo since Christmas when their previous owner, Paula Madison, abruptly told the league and Sparks coaches and employees that her company could no longer operate the team. Madison subsequently told The Associated Press that her family lost $12 million operating the franchise since buying it from the Buss family in 2007 and $1.4 million last season.

Oprah Wants To Be The First To Interview Lamar Odom

Oprah wants to be the first interview Lamar Odom and she’s not stopping until she makes it happen.
According to reports, the “Oprah’s Next Chapter” host is in negotiations with Lamar’s camp to finalize an exclusive deal. Sources say the NBA star will agree to the tell-all only if the “conditions are right.”

Nothing has been set in stone, but TMZ reports if all goes well the sit-down will focus on his drug use, troubled marriage with Khloe Kardashian and future of his basketball career.

Brooklyn Nets Head Coach Fired, His Son Goes Off on Twitter

Avery Johnson has been fired as Head Coach of the Brooklyn Nets basketball team.

The Nets began with a promising start to the season at 11-4, but quickly lost their steam and became 14-14 by this week. After the 10th loss, the Nets' ownership didn't want to wait to see how the rest of the season might go.

Shockwaves were sent around the NBA when word got out that Johnson was released, especially because he had just won the title of Eastern Conference Coach of the Month in November.

General Manager Billy King released a statement on Thursday addressing the termination.



Meanwhile, Avery Johnson Jr. sounded off on Twitter.

You ain't lyin Avery Jr.!!!

Air Jordan 4 Cavs to Be Released in May

The wait is over! Nike has officially announced the release date for the new Air Jordan IV "Cavs". This retro colorway (black, orange, and royal blue) was chosen in honor of Michael Jordan's historic jumpshot over Cavaliers player Craig Ehlo in 1989.

Dwight Howard Will Miss Remaining Season

It was announced on Thursday evening that Orlando Magic all-star Dwight Howard will undergo emergency back surgery to repair a herniated disk. The surgery will take place today, Friday the 19th.

As a result of the surgery Dwight will have to miss the remainder of the basketball season and will lose any chance of participating in the 2012 Olympics.

There were rumors that Howard was exaggerating his injury to avoid playing for his coach Stan Van Gundy. We're doubtful of that rumor though, most people don't agree to back surgery just to avoid their coaches.

Orlando Magic has stood by Dwight this past season, even though their ranking has dropped to 6th place in the Eastern Conference. Maybe next season will bring better luck to Dwight and his team.

Evelyn Lozada Being Sued By Ex Antoine Walker

Former NBA player Antoine Walker is done with his bankruptcy proceedings. Walker owed the government $12.7 million after having made a reported $110 million during his career in the NBA. He was discharged from bankruptcy by a federal judge last week.
One of the conditions of the case being discharged was Antoine Walker take a money management class, which he did March 16th. Walker is said to be ready to start over when it comes to his finances. Though the case is starting to wrap up, Walker is suing Evelyn for some money he allegedly gave to her under dubious terms.  Apparently that money Antoine gave her, she used it to start her shoe store.  She and Antoine were once engaged and trustees are now making attempts to retrieve $500,000 from Eveyln to settle all of Walker’s financial responsibilities. That case is still pending.

HUH?! Allen Iverson Receives Offer to Play Pro Soccer

Allen Iverson has received an offer to play in a semi-professional soccer league. Hmm, that's a little strange considering that he's a basketball player.

The Rochester Lancers have offered to pay Iverson $20,000 per game in addition to $5,000 for every goal he would score. Allen would also receive merchandising bonuses.

The former NBA All-Star is notoriously difficult to work with and has managed to blow through ALL of his earnings (an estimated $154 MILLION in salary alone), so it would make sense to humbly accept any offers that are thrown his way.

Allen's NBA career, although initially promising, was plagued with many issues and caused his game time in  the NBA to come to a screeching halt. Allen's refusal to practice and train made him constantly butt heads with coaches, and his drama off the court resulted in a loss of interest for potential endorsement offers. Most recently he played on the international level for Turkey, but is currently shopping around and considering other international teams like Puerto Rico.

Rich Randall, the Vice President of the Lancers, believes that "Allen Iverson is one of the premier athletes of our time, [...] I think he can be a great fit with our team..." This is clearly a publicity stunt on the team's behalf, but it wouldn't hurt for Allen to play along so he can get a little change in the process despite the slightly insulting nature of the offer.

Surprise! Jeremy Lin, the latest sensation to emerge from the NBA, has signed a shoe deal with Nike.

The 6 foot 3 point guard has created "Linsanity" by leading the Knicks to seven victories in the past two weeks.

Nike will make a limited edition of Lin's favorite shoe, the 2011 Hyperfuses, in the New York Knicks' colors.

If he continues like this, Jeremy Lin has the potential to become a successful brand like Dwayne Wade, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant!

College Basketball Player Dunks Over His Mother's Head

Josh Thompson, Junior forward of the Wagner College basketball team, recently did a dunk over his mom's head.

During the Madness Before Midnight event last Friday, Thompson wanted to win the slam dunk contest so he called his mother on the court to thank her and ended up doing a dunk over her head!

Good thing he made it!! His mom would've been sooooo pissed if he landed on her head!

NBA Players Consider Starting Own League

Some players have discussed starting an alternate league, if the current NBA lockout forces a cancellation of the season, according to New York Knicks star Amar’e Stoudemire.
“Obviously we’re trying to … get this lockout resolved. We want to play NBA basketball,” Stoudemire said Tuesday night. “But if it doesn’t happen, what are we gonna do? We can’t just sit around and not do anything. So we have to figure out ways to now continue to play basketball at a high level against top competition and have fun doing it. So, that’s the next step.”
