D. Wade Writes Editorial in Newsweek Magazine

In Newsweek magazine Dwayne Wade writes an editorial about winning custody of his two sons, Zaire & Zion.  He talks about his ugly divorce from Siohvaughn Funches, which eventually lead to the judge granting him full custody of their two children.

Dwayne moved his sons with him to Miami before the regular season ended.

Here's what he says -

“Bad memories vanish each morning when I walk into both of my sons’ bedrooms to wake them up for school—their laughter gives me all I need to face whatever is happening in my life”

But D. Wade didn't just write about his issues, he wanted to give some inspiration to all single fathers, and parents out there.

"All children need their fathers, but boys especially need fathers to teach them how to be men. I remember wanting that so badly before I went to live with my dad. I wanted someone to teach me how to tie a tie and walk the walk, things only a man can teach a boy. Of course, back then, I never could have imagined being in the same situation someday with my own kids… I just want people—men, and men of color in particular—to hear my story and know that their children need them and that it’s their responsibility to be there for them. We have to step up as men and do our part. There are no excuses".

D. Wade is one of the most popular Basketball players in the league right now and it's refreshing to see that he's not reckless with his business.  It's also refreshing to see a black man care so much about his kids!!!  That is not the norm in our communities- sad to say.  He could have easily said, I will financially support his kids and that's it, he understands that the relationship he has with his sons mean more then any money can buy!

D. Wade you can teach all men a lesson in manhood!  Also teach some of your fellow NBA players.
