SAD NEWS: Creator of ‘For Brown Girls’ & #DarkSkinRedLipProject Dies From Apparent Suicide

We are shocked and saddened to report that Karyn Washington, 22, the beautiful creator of the uplifting website, ForBrownGirls.com has died, due to an apparent suicide. Karyen created the site as an “inspiration destination” where Black women with darker skin could go and feel beautiful. She also sparked the hashtag#DarkSkinRedLipProject after A$AP Rocky boldly stated that dark-skin women shouldn’t wear red lipstick. This was a place where thousands of dark skin women posted stunning photos of themselves in red lipstick to dispel that wicked myth.

It’s being reported that Karyn struggled with mental illness and depression and despite giving all the love in her heart to others, she wasn’t able to give that same love to herself.  We as a community need to embrace the fact that mental illness is real.  Prayer is great, but we need medical attention.  This unfortuately happens far too often.  

Please continue to pray for all young men and women dealing with mental illness and also lift up this young lady's family and friends during this tough time.

President Obama Signs Order to Enforce Equal Pay for Women

In the last seven decades the gap between women and men's income has not changed much; women only earn 77 cents to every dollar that a man makes.

In an effort to bridge the gap and ensure equal pay for equal work, President Barack Obama signed a pair of executive orders. One order ensured women's rights to equal pay, the other stops federal contractors from  retaliating against employees that request to discuss their pay with supervisors.

This is the newest action that the president has taken to enforce worker's rights, but not the first. The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act (2009) is another law that was passed in an effort achieve fairness in the workplace. All of these fall under the Fair Paycheck Act which will be under review with these new orders.

Through both of his terms President Obama has consistently maintained that economic equality was his major platform and he would do everything in his power to see it through. As a society we still have a long way to go, but I can safely that this is the most that one man has ever done to improve the struggle of minorities in America.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is being investigated for a possible sexual assault at a hotel in Miami, Florida according to source.
 The alleged incident took place at the Viceroy Hotel in Miami earlier this month.

Our sources tell us ... the investigation is in its "beginning stages" and no charges have been filed against anyone at this point.
TMZ has reached out to both Colin's agent and the San Francisco 49ers, but they both refused to comment at this time.

Kaepernick doesn't appear to be fazed by the allegations -- he was out partying at a Miami nightclub early Sunday morning with a smile on his face.

‘Single Ladies’ Gets Picked Up by BET Centric for Season 4

“Single Ladies” will live to see another season after VH1 abruptly canceled the show last month.
LisaRaye McCoy, Denise Vasi and Charity Shea aren’t out of a job....at least for now! The Los Angeles Times reports that BET Centric has picked up “Single Ladies” for season 4. Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit is creating new episodes for Centric as part of a new deal with the network.
Last week there was chatter that BET might take on the show the same way it saved “The Game.” The network wouldn’t directly comment on the gossip at the time, but this announcement presents a twist on the initial rumors.
“Single Ladies” has come as part of a package deal! According to the LA Times, Flavor Unit will also create other original shows for Centric and the network will air reruns of “The Queen Latifah Show” in prime time.


Congrats to the cast!  Hopefully BET can make the show better....?

Kandi reportedly left her wedding horrified after her good friend Fantasia Barrino gave an expletive laced speech at the wedding and creating a rift between the friends.

According to RadarOnline.com, Fantasia was letting profanities fly when she toasted Kandi and Todd Tucker at their wedding on April 4. Overjoyed about her friend’s big day, one guest dished that Fantasia forgot that she was in mixed company at a formal affair, letting some foul language slip out of her mouth.

Supposedly, Fanny’s speech was so bad that the witness would not be surprised if the incident affected her relationship with the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” bride.

Neither Kandi, Todd nor Fantasia have spoken out about the accusations or the current status of their friendship at this time, but this doesn’t seem like anything serious enough to end a friendship.

Uh Oh!! Porsha Williams Put on Blast by Producer for Stealing Syleena Johnson’s Song

Porsha Williams has been all over the blogs lately, but now the reality star is being blasted with accusations she stole a song for her upcoming EP.

It’s the song “Perfectly Worthless,” that we watched Porsha record on this past week’s episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Pierre Medor wrote and produced the song, but he was so upset with Porsha’s demo of the song he decided not to sell it to her.
Now, he’s alleging she stole the song for the show without his permission.

Pierre’s rep told TheYBF.com:

In the business more than one artist will record the same song hoping for the right outcome, as was the case with Perfectly Worthless. Porsha Stewart wanted a song, Pierre Medor wrote and produced this song in its entirety. Not having any previous point of reference for Porsha, we initially recorded the song for the purpose of determining her vocal abilities and how they would fit with this particular song; it was quickly determined that this song wasn’t the best match for her, so we chose not to sell her the song and notified her management of our decision.

The producer was completely shocked to hear his song on television and has began to seek legal action regarding the incident. The rep then goes on to throw all kinds of shade on Porsha:

“Perfectly Worthless” is a great song and she loves it…we get that. But just like every body doesn’t look good in spandex, every voice doesn’t fit every song. It’s just unfortunate that Porsha has chosen to create another delusional marriage with this song by airing it and claiming to have taken part in its creation.

Since Porsha didn’t get the song, it was later sold to R&B Divas star Syleena Johnson and will appear on her forthcoming album

Real Housewives of Atlanta’ Cast Threatens to Walk if Porsha Williams Gets Fired!

Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta may have been renewed for a seventh season, but producers now have a major problem on their hands.

According to sources, the ladies (except for Kenya Moore....of course) are threatening to leave the show if producers fire Porsha Williams over her fight with Kenya.

 

Sources close to the show say the women hatched their plan this weekend at Kandi Burruss’ wedding … telling the show’s producers how much they despise Moore because of all the drama she stirs up.

We are hearing that since the brawl, ALL housewives’ contracts for next season have been put on hold — until show honchos figure out what to do with Porsha.

But sources tell us the women have made it clear … they’ll walk if Porsha gets fired … and we’re told NeNe Leakes and Phaedra Parks are making a play to get Kenya fired instead.
