NEW MUSIC: The Roots - When the People Cheer

For the past few years The Roots have been busy working as the band on Jimmy Fallon's night shows. Their participation on the show gained exposure to a new audience, but we appreciate that they haven't lost their trademark sound.

"When the People Cheer" is the first single off their upcoming album And Then You Shoot Your Cousin. Take a listen...

This will be The Roots' eleventh studio album, we're curious to see how they're gonna handle promotion while they juggle The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

What do you think of the track?

NEW MUSIC: Drake - Draft Day

So yeah, Drake has a new single. I'm still not completely clear on who told him to make it (was it a contracted song between Drake and a professional league?), but whatever. The song samples Lauryn Hill's classic hit "That Thing".

Take a listen...

I don't love it. I know a lot of Drake Stans will drink the Kool-Aid just because it's him, but I'm not too impressed with the lyrics or the use of the Lauryn Hill sample. That's just me. I could be hating.

What do you guys think? Potential Hit?

NEW MUSIC: Uh Oh!! Jay Z Disses Drizzy Drake

While you were catching up on some much-needed sleep Jay Z was getting on Drake for talking  about him...remember when Drake got his panties all in a bunch because Rolling Stone (not only replaced his cover with Philip Seymour Hoffman, who had suddenly passed away from a drug overdose) published “off the cuff” comments Drizzy made about Kanye West and Jay Z?
“It’s like Hov can’t drop bars these days without at least four art references. I would love to collect [art] at some point, but I think the whole Rap/art world thing is getting kind of corny,” Drake said without the intentions of it being published (so he says but he has to know better than that now). Well, the comments ran in Drizzy’s interview and Jay caught wind of it.  Jay clearly felt a way about his words because he responded to them on Jay Electronica’s track “We Made It.”
“Sorry Mr. Drizzy for so much art talk/Silly me, rappin’ ’bout sh-t that I really bought/While these rappers rap about guns that they ain’t shot/ And a bunch of other silly sh-t that they ain’t got,” Jigga rapped before shouting out “12 Years A Slave” star Lupita Nyong’o.
“I’m on my Lupita Nyong’o/ Stuntin’ on stage after 12 Years A Slave/This Ace of Spades look like an Oscar
Black tux, look like a mobster.”

Do you think Drake should respond?
