In Germany, a man that had AIDS seems to no longer have any HIV cells in his body after receiving a stem cell transplant that was meant to treat his leukemia.
However, doctors warn that this is a unique case and this doesn't mean that they've found a cure for the whole AIDS population. The man had a unique gene that allowed his body to fight HIV, plus he went through chemotherapy twice.
Doctors think that this is too expensive and risky to become common practice for the rest of the world.
It sounds like we've got a long way to go but at least we are making the right moves to find a cure! AIDS is one of the most widespread diseases in the world.
