EBONY & JET Magazines Are Re-Hiring and Re-Branding

John Johnson, creator of Johnson Publishing Co.

According to NPR.com, Johnson Publishing Co., the parent company of EBONY and Jet magazine, are hiring!

After years of suffering from an extreme decline in subscriptions and off-the-shelf purchases, Johnson Publishing has made a huge push to re-brand so it has a chance against competing magazines. Although EBONY & Jet have always been top selling black magazines in the country they are suffering in comparison to other lifestyle publishings on the market.

In an effort to revatilize its weakening profit Johnson Publishing already sold part of its stake to JP Mortgan Chase and has seen 11% growth in sales with Jet and 8% growth in sales with EBONY.

Former White House Secretary Deisree Rogers has been the CEO of Johnson Publishing for a little over a year. She is focused on reviving the magazines by appealing to readers' new interests and changing their marketing tactic. But in order to do this, Rogers has made it clear that they need fresh new writers that bring creative ideas and can appeal to a wider demographic.

Rogers is currently redesigning the EBONY website and will work on the Jet website later next year.

If you're in the Chicago area Johnson Publishing may have a job for you! It sounds like they're looking for new, fresh perspectives so give it a try.
