BEAUTY: Prep Your Skin for Fall

We've already covered your wardrobe, but let's talk about what you can do to keep your Summer glow through the Fall!

1. SWITCH TO MORE MOISTURIZING PRODUCTS

Even if you have oily or combination skin it's important to make sure your skin maintains its moisture. The quick drops in temperature can leave your skin fragile and imbalanced.

If you have oilier skin you can get by with a light lotion, but if your skin tends to get dry make sure you use something nice and creamy.

2. USE WARM (NOT HOT) WATER

We know that it feels amazing to take a nice hot shower at the end of the day, but that hot water is actually sucking all of the moisture out of your skin! Take a warm shower instead. Also, try to keep your showers under 10 minutes long.

3. (GENTLY) EXFOLIATE REGULARLY

This is an important step to keep your skin from looking dull! Exfoliation  can be with something as simple as a washcloth or a gentle exfoliating product.

Women of color tend to have more sensitive skin; if you do buy an exfoliant make sure that you don't do it too frequently/vigorously or it could lead to hyperpigmentation.

4. DRINK WATER!

This sounds obvious but you would be surprised at how little people drink. With the heater blowing you will easily get dehydrated!

Take a water bottle wherever you go. Your skin will feel softer and firmer, you will feel refreshed. PLEASE READ: soda and juice do NOT count!!!

5. TRY A HONEY MASK

Honey is a natural humectant and an exfoliant so it works wonders for dry or agitated skin. We've discussed honey masks in an older post, but for those of you that weren't with us, it's easy!

Simply get some honey, spread it on your face for about 10-15 minutes, and rinse. It's not a goopy mess like people think and it works wonders.
