Hair Care Tip - Apple Cider Vinegar

Ladies,

During certain times of the year we all struggle with a dry, flaky scalp. Television commercials might convince you that you have dandruff, but most people are actually just suffering from a dry scalp or from product buildup.

Here's an article that can help you understand the difference between dandruff and a dry scalp:
Dandruff vs. Dry Scalp: How to Recognize

Greasing your scalp occasionally is ok, but really it is just clogging the pores in your scalp which can lead to even more flaking. You have to get to the root of the problem! That's where ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar) comes in! The acid from the vinegar helps balance the PH of your scalp and adds shine to your hair. This is a cheap remedy to a common problem.

It may seem a little weird, but give it a try! Here's how I do it:
  1. Grab equal parts ACV and water. I usually use one cup of each.
  2. After you shampoo your hair lightly (I do this while in the shower) tilt your head back and pour the ACV on your scalp and hair. Do not let it get in your eyes!!! I promise, it will burn.
  3. Gently massage your scalp to make sure it has covered the whole head. Leave on for about 1 minute.
  4. Rinse and proceed with a moisturizing conditioner as usual.
Once your hair is dry, you will see that it is SHINY! It will take a few uses for the dry scalp to completely go away, but you should notice a difference immediately.

NOTE: It is important to remember that since most Black hair is naturally dry, this is not a treatment that you want to use for every wash. Try it every other wash for starters and then you can tweak it from there!

Please try it and give me feedback. I love this treatment, it has worked for me and I'm curious to see how it works for you too! Keep me posted.
